EMSOL joins Westminster Commission for Road Air Quality

Jan 6, 2021 | News

EMSOL is pleased to affiliate with The Westminster Commission for Road Air Quality (WCRAQ).

The Commission works to support the important work of All-Party Parliamentary Clean Air Group Vice-Chair Barry Sheerman MP with the purpose to discuss, debate and agree on policy recommendations.

“By taking a deep look into one of the biggest sources of air pollution – road transport – this Commission will take an important step in solving one of the biggest health and environmental issues of our time,” Barry Sheerman.

As part of EMSOL’s vision and commitment to enabling air pollution reduction and its associated impact on communities, we believe it is vital to engage in this discussion across all areas of society. Pollution reduction should be a priority at every level from government, businesses, and down to individuals.

EMSOL primarily works with businesses and organisations to monitor air quality and identify targeted reductions. To date, our customers have included City of London, Croydon Council, Mace, Hansons, Balfour Beaty, and Network Rail.

EMSOL has affiliated with The Westminster Commission for Road Air Quality (WCRAQ) in order to play a role in steering the on-going debate around air quality in the UK. Primarily this is to ensure that national and local governments are adopting sensible and tough measures to help improve air quality in the UK.

Some of the areas that EMSOL will be actively pursuing to work with WCRAQ on include the problem of highly polluting vehicles; occupational hazard of drivers being exposed to low air quality; and the need to consider strategic air monitor distribution to protect the most vulnerable in local communities.
